Bengaluru, 25 November: GenZ is more optimistic about the impact of generative AI on their career growth despite concerns over loss of jobs fuelled by the new technology.

GenZ is the generation of youngsters who are born in late 1990s and early 2,000.

According to a survey conducted by upskilling platform, UpGrad, that GenZ professionals are optimistic and forward-thinking when it comes to GenAI.

“One in two GenZs believe that GenAI will play a supportive, if not central role in their careers over the next five years. Adoption rates are high, with 73 per cent of GenZ already integrating GenAI into their daily tasks with 72 per cent relying on GenAI-produced outputs with minimal edits—clear evidence that this generation sees GenAI as an integral part of their daily workflows,” the report by UpGrad said.

Despite some concerns over job security – 65 per cent of GenZ respondents reported feeling neutral to optimistic about GenAI, while 77 per cent see the technology as a harbinger of new professional possibilities.

The report also revealed that 56 per cent of Gen Z respondents prefer consulting GenAI over their managers, due to its constant accessibility and perceived impartiality.

Similarly, 54 per cent of Gen Z respondents believe their current organisational guidelines on GenAI are inadequate, revealing a need for companies to establish clearer AI policies and comprehensive training. Moreover, 52 per cent of GenZ respondents acknowledge a lack of clarity around their workplace GenAI training programmes, with some highlighting that updates are rare or non-existent—emphasizing the widespread inaccessibility of upskilling opportunities in today’s workplaces.

Similarly, only 21 per cent of HR professionals feel comfortable relying on GenAI for regulatory training, highlighting the need for compliance-focused resources, the report pointed out.
